Berlin (energate) - Operators of hydrogen filling stations demand more green hydrogen for transport. In the upcoming revision of the National Hydrogen Strategy, the transport sector should be given greater consideration, according to the filling station operator H2 Mobility. The company is supported by the hydrogen filling station operators GP Joule, Westfalen AG and JET H2 Energy. In their opinion, the expansion of local electrolysis plants, transport, as a reliable customer with a high willingness to pay, enables economic operation. The transport sector could thus make a decisive contribution to the implementation of regional projects and the rapid expansion of electrolysis capacities in Germany, the four infrastructure operators argue.
"In order to drive the expansion of regional electrolysers - for grid stability, for more independence from fossil fuels and for local value creation, we call for greater consideration to be given to the transport sector, for regulatory barriers to be further reduced and for investments to be promoted," H2 Mobility Managing Director Nikolas Iwan says. Individual projects, such as the
GP Joule-initiated "eFarm" project from North Friesland, show that a supply of locally produced green hydrogen for mobility is technically possible, he adds. It is now a matter of expanding this, he stresses, and ensuring a rapid ramp-up with the right regulatory framework. /tc
